Meet the Team
Kiel Varga
Founder/Director
A Marine Corps Veteran and active law enforcement officer with over 22 years of service, Kiel has spent his entire adult life serving his country and community. Developing a love for hockey as a teenager, he still plays hockey to this day. He has recently turned that lifelong passion toward mentoring the next generation of players. Through the Tampa Bay Youth Hockey Development Foundation, Kiel works to give young athletes greater access to competitive travel opportunities, quality coaching, strength and conditioning programs, and the resources they need to grow both as hockey players and as people. His focus is on creating positive experiences that teach teamwork, resilience, and healthy habits that last well beyond the rink.
James Toth
Director
James Toth: From the moment I first stepped on the ice, I fell in love with the game of hockey. That passion carried me through my playing career, including competing at the collegiate club level, and naturally evolved into a deep commitment to coaching and developing young players. After joining the Navy and serving alongside special operations forces, I carried those same principles of discipline, resilience, and leadership into my career as an entrepreneur in real estate. Despite those paths, my true passion has always remained with the game—coaching, mentoring, and helping young athletes grow both on and off the ice. Serving as part of the ACP Hockey Foundation allows me to give back to the sport that has given me so much, creating opportunities and helping guide the next generation as they begin their own journey.
Steven Blaine
Director
With over 20 years of experience on the ice, I bring a lifelong passion for hockey and a deep understanding of the game from both a player’s and coach’s perspective. My years of playing have given me firsthand experience in skill development, positioning, hockey IQ, teamwork, and the competitive mindset required to succeed.
Hockey is also a big part of my family. I have two kids who play, and one of the things I enjoy most is being able to skate and spend time on the ice with them. Sharing the game with my kids has given me an even greater appreciation for hockey and has helped shape the way I approach coaching young players.
As a coach, I focus on developing complete hockey players—not just improving skating, shooting, and puck skills, but teaching players how to understand the game, compete with confidence, communicate with their teammates, and make smart decisions under pressure. As both a coach and a hockey parent, I understand the importance of creating an environment where kids can develop, compete, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy coming to the rink.
Having spent more than two decades on the ice, I understand that every player develops differently. My goal is to challenge each player at the appropriate level, build confidence through preparation, and create habits that translate directly into game situations.
Above all, I want my players to compete hard, be great teammates, respect the game, and develop the same lifelong love for hockey that I have been fortunate enough to share with my own kids.
